Fan Expo Report

I am sitting here thinking to myself -- hey! I didn't post the aftermath of my voyage to Toronto, did I?

First off I spent some time with my cousins and my aunt, and we had awesome conversations about zombies and New York and California... and Avatar... and the Toronto Film Festival! They're all a lot taller than I am, so I still felt like their little cousin in every sense of the word.

Fan Expo did not disappoint. It was a bit of a confusing process to get to the darned place from our hotel, but once we got it all sorted out it was mostly smooth sailing. Well, except that we had a minor structural malfunction with our display, but it was all right after some creative duct tape application. Regardless, the rest of the convention was amazing! Did I mention I was dressed up as Gwen Stacy from the original Spiderman comics?

I found out that there was a costume contest going on during the weekend for Marvel characters, and here I was, dressed as one. Why not take part in the contest, right? So I did! And it was full of some super costumes (bad pun intended)... Dark Phoenix, Captain America, Spiderman, Black Widow and more were all in attendance. When the final three were brought up to the stage, it was me versus Dark Phoenix and Captain America. The winner? Gwen Stacy! I won! It was awesome and amazing. Overall I had a ton of pictures taken during the convention but the most were taken on the stage. I got some wonderful prizes from the Marvel guys, and it wouldn't be the last time I saw them! I went to go hang out with them all later at a nearby pub. Sadly I didn't have time to change out of costume and had to show up wearing the same outfit I wore for the contest, haha. Had a great time, though!

Surprisingly we saw a couple people we knew. Like, people I went to college with. I don't see them for ages and then bam, I travel 2000 miles and just happen to run in to them on the street. Crazy small world.

Last but not least, I found out afterwards that Eli from SGU was there but was a guest added last minute. So here I am, a dedicated Stargate fan... and I didn't even get to see him! I was SO disappointed.

Thanks for a great time, Toronto! Andt hanks to Marvel for making it even more memorable.
