Day 36: Beach Day!

On this day I took the time to sleep in, and once everyone was ready and all was said and done we went to the beach!! I knew Aunty L had mentioned the rocky beaches along Nice before, and complimented the sandy awesomeness that was Mykonos... but it didn't really hit me till now. I had previously thought it would be gravel or something, right? Wrong!! The entire beach is covered in rocks the size of my hand. Like literally, these things are stones of epic proportions. And yet, people are walking on it like it's no big thing. I decided to give it a go myself, but had to keep myself from falling over because it was so hard to walk!! It was painful, too. This is why a lot of our time was spent near the tidal barrier, where there were marble boulders to sit and to lay on. That, and it was a mix of pavement and gravel (and glass), but still a lot easier to walk on than the beach itself.

The water in the tidal barrier was quite calm; a few young kids were in there playing where the shallows were. KP and I would venture out further than that, of course... because we're big kids now! Aunty L found it nice because it wasn't full of torrential waves like the actual beach was. Even so, I did go and adventure over there just to experience the swells. It was fun! I have never experienced waves like that before except for perhaps in an indoor wave pool. And here, there were definitely some sizable waves! KP said that the ocean has even bigger waves, so now I think it would be a great idea to go surfing on the ocean one day. Regardless, it was a lot of fun to dip and rise with the waves, and look out only to see blue as far as the eye could see.

Afterwards, KP and I did Shakira's 'Waka Waka' dance!
